Jennifer Andrews, President

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Jen has more than 10 years of experience in marketing and communications in the sports & recreation and engineering consulting industries. In her current role as Marketing Manager at Woodard & Curran, a 550-person engineering, science, and operations firm in Portland, she is responsible for overseeing a 12-person marketing staff spanning multiple offices, and for maintaining the firm’s market-focused strategy and initiatives, including brand management, proposal standards, market research, knowledge management, marketing materials, award submittals, trade show participation, public relations, and advertising.
Anne Weidman, President-Elect

As Marketing Manager for JSA Inc, a Portsmouth, NH-based architecture firm, Anne manages all things marketing, from public relations and market research, to the hands-on task of “getting it out the door.” Having been on both the marketing and interior design sides of architecture, she clearly understands clients’ need for visual interpretation and develops graphically rich collateral materials customized to each pursuit. She has more than 20 years of industry experience in architectural marketing, corporate interior design, and sports marketing. She has degrees in Marketing and Interior Design from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and is certified by NCIDQ, the National Council for Interior Design Qualification. During her tenure on the SMPS leadership team, Anne has established a goal of building the SMPS Maine involvement with the A/E/C community in New Hampshire.
Katy Hews, Past President

Katy has over 35 years experience within the A/E/C industry at locations throughout the United States. She is an Associate Principal of Marketivity Inc., a strategic planning and marketing consulting firm based in Portland, Oregon, with an East Coast office in Portland, Maine, exclusively serves the design and construction community. Marketivity’s clients range from firms of six to 30,000 people throughout the United States and in Canada and includes many ENR Top 100 clients. Prior to joining Marketivity in 2005, Katy spent many years as a Marketing Director and Business Development Director at major national and regional firms, including 13 years with URS Corporation’s offices in Denver, Colorado and Seattle, Washington. She has conducted extensive research into new and expanded market sectors as well as new geographic markets. Her background also includes project work on major federal programs. In that role she has assessed potential impacts of major projects on communities at locations throughout the United States, including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Alaska, among other states. Katy has been an active member of SMPS for over 20 years, and has served as a committee chair for the Seattle and Boston chapters, and a board member for the Maine Chapter, including her current role as President. Katy is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
Allison Sovetsky, Treasurer

Ms. Sovetsky has been in the marketing industry for the past 7 years after working several years in various HR roles. She currently works for Woodard & Curran in Portland, ME for the College, University and Hospital Market Segment. In addition, she is pursuing a Masters Degree in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. A member of SMPS for nearly 2 years, she was awarded the SMPS-Maine scholarship in 2009.
Kim Stiver, Secretary

As the marketing director and lead brand strategist for CD&M Communications, a Portland-based integrated marketing firm, Kim has more than 15 years of experience in brand planning, strategic marketing communications, interactive / non-traditional marketing, and public relations. Prior to joining CD&M, Kim was the marketing director for CONTECH Construction Products’ stormwater division (formerly Vortechnics) in Scarborough. While there, she developed and managed numerous construction industry campaigns, including web-based marketing and strategic planning. During her tenure with CD&M, Kim has led the charge in developing or revamping many clients’ brands, reputations and strategic marketing plans. Having served on both the client side of corporate marketing, as well as the agency side, she is uniquely able to understand clients’ needs and objectives. Kim’s achievements include a regional Emmy®-winning television branding campaign, four Telly® awards, two IABC awards, and several SMPS chapter awards. She has a BA in communication from Berry College in Georgia, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Paul Stevens, Director at Large

Paul S. Stevens, AIA, is a Principal and Chairman of the Board for SMRT, an 80-person full service architectural, engineering and planning firm. Over the past 43 years, Paul has helped to grow the firm, in both size and capability, into one of the largest design firms in northern New England. Based in Portland, he directs SMRT’s regional and national business development and marketing strategy. He also serves as Principal-in-Charge for client projects. As Vice President of the Portland Society of Architects, he is active in promoting design excellence in Portland. The great grandson of John Calvin Stevens, Paul holds a B.F.A. from Wesleyan University and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
Scott Tompkins, Director at Large

Scott Tompkins handles project-specific public relations for the Maine Turnpike Authority, an independent agency charged with constructing and maintaining the state’s 109-mile-long, user-fee highway. He brings more than 20 years of public relations and marketing experience to his position, the past 15 of which have been devoted exclusively to Maine’s built environment. Prior to joining the MTA Scott served as Director of Business Development for Ledgewood Construction, a South Portland-based commercial building contractor. He also has provided leadership for a number of industry groups, including serving as Deputy Director of the Associated General Contractors of Maine, Treasurer of the Maine Transportation Trust, and Construction Industry Council Chair for the Penobscot Job Corps Academy. Additionally, Scott’s PR efforts have earned several national and statewide awards from the Associated General Contractors of America and the Maine Public Relations Council. A UCLA graduate, he lives in South Portland with his wife Susan and daughter Julia.
Amber Koskela, Co-Chair Membership Committee

Amber Koskela works with McFarland-Johnson, Inc. as Marketing Coordinator out of their Concord, New Hampshire location to help promote the McFarland Johnson brand and services by supporting and performing a wide range of marketing, business development and public relations activities. Ms. Koskela holds several years of marketing experience throughout New Hampshire. She earned the degree of Bachelor of Science in Communications from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. She has worked most recently as the Business Development/Marketing Specialist for S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. in Somersworth, NH and as a Marketing Associate for Law Warehouses, Inc. in Nashua, NH. Amber has also had the opportunity to work with several prestigious New England Television stations to include WMUR’s Channel 9 News in Manchester, NH and MyTV New England in Derry, NH. In her spare time Amber has volunteered her professional online marketing services to distribute a local non-profit’s bi-monthly email announcements or you can always find her on the ski slopes.
Allison Lynch, Communications Chair

Allison is the Marketing Manager for Ledgewood Construction, a South-Portland based commercial contractor, where she coordinates qualifications, proposals and marketing packages for potential projects and maintains internal and external communications. Previous experience includes work as an account manager for a regional marketing agency and as specials events coordinator for a national networking and business development organization. A graduate of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, Allison has been a member of SMPS for three years. This is her first position with the board.
Kevin Gendreau, Program Committee Chair

Kevin serves as Marketing Director for CES, Inc., a full-service engineering, surveying, planning and sciences firm with five locations in Maine. Based in Brewer, Kevin manages all marketing communications, materials, proposals, public relations, strategic planning efforts and business development for the firm. A graduate of the University of Maine, Kevin brings more than 15 years of business development and marketing experience in manufacturing and the engineering consulting industries.
